The Perdomo Habano BBA (Bourbon Barrel-Aged) Connecticut Torpedo is a premium, mild- to medium-bodied cigar from Perdomo Cigars, known for their meticulous tobacco aging process. This cigar features an exceptionally smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that has been aged in charred bourbon barrels. The Torpedo shape (6.5 x 54) provides a long and satisfying smoking experience with a tapered head for concentrated flavor.
Blend and aging
- Wrapper: An Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper leaf is aged for six years and then additionally aged for eight months in charred, ex-bourbon barrels. This barrel aging infuses the tobacco with a distinctive, subtle sweetness.
- Binder: The binder is a Cuban-seed Nicaraguan tobacco.
- Filler: The long-fillers are a Cuban-seed Nicaraguan blend from the country's most fertile growing regions: Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa. These tobaccos are also aged for at least six years.
Flavor profile and tasting notes
The unique aging process creates a complex yet balanced and smooth flavor profile. Expect notes of:
- Cream and sweetness: The barrel-aged wrapper provides a creamy, buttery smoothness with notes of vanilla, caramel, and honey.
- Wood and nuts: Cedar, toasted nuts, and a light, smoky oak are present, complemented by the bourbon-aged wrapper.
- Spice: A hint of white pepper and spice is often detected on the retrohale, adding complexity without overpowering the milder profile.
- Other notes: Hints of espresso, leather, and dried fruit may also appear throughout the smoke.
Smoking experience
- Body: Mild to medium, making it an excellent choice for a morning smoke, new cigar enthusiasts, or those who prefer a less intense experience.
- Construction: Perdomo is renowned for its consistent and flawless construction. This cigar offers an easy draw, an even burn, and excellent smoke production.
- Appearance: The golden-blond Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is silky and flawless, making for a very attractive and elegant-looking cigar.
- Pairing: This cigar pairs exceptionally well with bourbon or blended whiskey, as the barrel-aging process complements the whiskey's characteristics.
